Julia Cox graduates to Clemson Extension 4-H agent role
Julia Miller Cox, STCTC Agricultural Education alum and former Thurmond FFA president, now serves as Clemson University Extension Agent 4-H/Youth Development for Edgefield and Aiken counties. She led new youth ag programs, interns at McCormick and Saluda, and aims for a master’s in Agricultural Education. She advised students to adapt, build life skills, and pursue college/workforce prep. A Bath woman on Maple Street reported a contact attempt by a person under an order of protection and multiple daily work calls. Vandalism at Savannah River Heritage Preserve included a painted sign, marijuana motif and satanic symbol. East Aiken School of the Arts reported vandalism to a rear door. Aiken woman on Foxs Lair reported burglary. A Jackson man on Foreman Road said a thief stole a flashlight from his truck. Warrenville resident on Climbing Rose Boulevard said a driver’s side window was busted and items taken. Graniteville resident on Connector Road reported mailbox theft and then was stopped for disorderly conduct. An individual on Old Thicket Place reported package and check theft from a mailbox. Graniteville man on Crystal Peak Road reported a stolen vehicle. car later found on fire on Springdale Drive. A couple on Rainbow Falls Road were arrested for mutual domestic assault in the third degree. A resident on Church Street reported items missing after vacation. A Warrenville resident on Eden Drive reported a hit and run involving a red Dodge Ram. A Columbia Highway location reported a violation of a protection order. A Key Family Road resident was arrested for possession of under one gram of meth. A North Augusta man on Audubon Circle was charged with assault and battery third degree.
SCORE hosts fraud prevention workshop across two dates
Greater Aiken SCORE will present a fraud prevention workshop on August 17 from 9 30 to 11 30 a m at Southern Wesleyan University in North Augusta and August 26 from 9 30 to 11 30 a m at the Aiken Chamber of Commerce. Kinship Care Training to Be Held August 22
A free Kinship Care Training will be held August 22 from 8 30 a m to 3 30 p m at the USC Aiken Student Activities Center 471 University Parkway. The session covers a framework for kinship caregivers addressing youth risk factors and differences from nonrelative adoption and foster care.
