Bette A. Lucas, 57, died from multiple injuries after a two vehicle collision on Wagoner Trail Road near Wagener. Samuel Cheatham, 28, driver of the Ford Explorer, was arrested on charges including driving under suspension and improper passing after fleeing the scene.
Volunteer nurses and five partner groups hosted a health fair at Four Mile Baptist Church in New Ellenton to address local medical access lacking a clinic. Blood pressure and blood sugar checks, plus diabetes and diet education, were offered as organizers push for a future clinic and stronger local health network.
Chairman Carlos Garcia will introduce two new members Keyatta Priester of Aiken Electric Cooperative and Virginia Hawkins of Aiken Regional Medical Centers at the Aiken County Commission for Technical and Comprehensive Education meeting set for 5 15 p.m. in Conference Room 102 at Aiken Technical College Graniteville. Dr Vinson Burdette and Dr Forest Mahan will present enrollment management and president reports respectively.
