Teddy Learns Beekeeping Amid Bees And Sweet Reward
Aiken Standard intern Teddy Kulmala completes his final tryout by learning beekeeping from Hartmut Jung in a Backyard Wildlife Habitat. Teddy handles hives with veil and gloves, learns about queen drones workers and honey extraction, tastes fresh honey, and conquers a long time fear. Hartmut, a hobby beekeeper, sells honey at Southside Produce and enters it in contests. The day ends with Teddy considering beekeeping as a hobby rather than a career.

Aiken hosts Slam Jam Skate Contest at the cement skate park behind H Odell Weeks Activities Center on Saturday August 14 with a $5 entry fee and pre registration required. The event runs 10 a.m. to about 6 p.m. with cash prizes skateboards wheels and accessories.
