Pudding You On Dinner Promises Pun Foundation Fame

Chicago AP reports the International Save the Pun Foundation held its first Chicago area dinner at Schulten's Restaurant. The event featured cornbread, Honey moon Salad, and a dessert named Pudding You On. Toronto-based chairman John S. Crosbie designated full membership as one who has eaten recently and pledged future dinners in September.

Fourth Boxcar Of Hay Arrives At Aiken For Farmers

The fourth boxcar of hay from the Midwest arrived in Aiken and was distributed to 26 farmers by Terry Mathis of the Clemson University Extension Service. About 98 large 800 pound bales were handed out, with more bales and smaller square bales planned after August 15.

South Carolina and D C lawmakers react to the House 276 to 149 vote upholding President Reagan's veto of textile import rollbacks. Some Democrats faulted Republicans for failing to override, while hints of a renewed push to aid the ailing textile industry emerge.

South Carolina six congressmen split along party lines on overriding Reagan's textile veto. Democrats Derrick Spratt Tallon backed the override. Republicans Campbell Hartnett Spence opposed. The measure failed overall with 71 to 106 in the House, and 205 to 43 among Democrats.
