Driver dies after avoiding stop in Aiken County crash
Edward F Patten Jr aged 27 of 575 Hazel Drive died from injuries after a single-vehicle crash on Gregory Road near Reynolds Pond Road. Police pursued him after he fled a driver safety checkpoint while driving a suspended license with an outstanding arrest warrant for domestic violence. The pursuit was abandoned on a dirt section of Gregory Road. the vehicle veered off embankments and flipped. Coroner reports say he died shortly after midnight.

West Bank travel ban tightens as Gaza closure expands

Voters in Aiken County Council District 6 face a runoff after a three way race on July 23 failed to yield a majority. Charles Barton and incumbent Joe Ran were the top contenders, Barton with 345 votes and Ran with 32, Fay Ticer 156.
