Divided families visit along fence at Border Field Park
Enrique Sandoval and his sister Maria Encarnacion meet across a 12 foot fence at Border Field State Park near the Pacific coast. They speak through the chain link while Border Patrol keeps watch as U.S. immigration policies restrict cross border visits. Local families share picnics through small openings in the fence amid a years long crackdown that reduced crossings and smuggler activity.
