The project will cover roughly 5 percent from city funds and 90 percent from federal money with state support of 5 percent to complete upgrades on two asphalt runways and related lighting.
Savannah River National Laboratory begins testing a prototype portal style radiation detector system for U S seaports on behalf of the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office DHS. The system aims to scan shipping containers for radioactivity with alarms and isotope identification capabilities. Aiken County schools extend the SREB driven effort from high schools to middle grades with Making Middle Grades Work. The program emphasizes organizational approach to instruction, leadership distribution, and teacher empowerment to prepare students for high school and college prep work.
