Morrison-Knudsen Wins $100 Million Savannah River Projects Contract
Morrison-Knudsen of Boise Idaho has won a 100 million contract to build the vitrification building for the Defense Waste Processing Facility and the naval fuel materials facility at the Savannah River Plant. The DWPF is 900 million and the NFMF about 200 million with 80 million and 20 million respectively. Construction begins 1984 with 250 to 300 workers for the NFMF and up to 1000 at peak for the DWPF. Du Pont remains overall contractor. Morrison-Knudsen provides construction management. site work funded in part by Congress.

Victoria Tennant the British born actress drives Woody the 1940 Ford in the CBS Chiefs miniseries set in the 20s to 60s. The vehicle was loaned for filming at 25 dollars a day plus travel allowance with 43 years of family service recorded by owners Karl and Edna Herde. Woody, one of only a few in the Southeast, is joined by a 1927 Model T in background scenes as stars pose and autograph the door.
