Man Receives Five Years Probation For Lottery Ticket Theft
Aiken man Joe Dwayne Moseley 24 of Wild Berry Road pleaded guilty to second degree burglary for breaking into a Golden Pantry on University Parkway March 27 and stealing about $200 in lottery tickets. He was sentenced to five years probation and 200 hours of community service after the solicitor's office dropped a charge of attempting to influence lottery results. Rusty Dunbar 28 of Ridge Spring faces prosecution in the same case.

Abducted Girls Rescued After Desert Abductor Shot Dead
Tamara Brooks and another girl, ages 16 and 17, were freed after a 12 hour desert search. Roy Dean Ratliff, 37, was killed by deputies when he fired on them in a remote high desert location. The girls, found in the back of the deputies vehicle, had tape on them but were coherent and taken to Kern Medical Center.
