Aiken County Council moved to place a one percent local option sales tax on the November ballot to fund capital projects, mainly road paving. The council voted unanimously after a 90 minute public hearing and faces only a final reading next Tuesday night before formal approval.
Aiken County Sheriff announces no warrant will be sought against soul singer James Joseph Brown after conflicting statements from a utility worker and investigator. The July 3 incident at 430 Douglas Road Beech Island involved a steak knife during a dispute over an electrical service visit.
