Lexington High vandalism hits historic game ball relic
Thieves damaged Lexington High School facilities causing about 25000 in losses to hallways cafeteria and mailroom and stole the 1948 state championship game ball. The ball had been kept by Cotton Wilson a 1948 co captain who donated it to the school. Police believe the act was done by older students seeking mischief. The vandalism occurred between Friday night and Monday morning and included a broken cafeteria window and profanity on vending machines. In a separate report a NASCAR team co owner Felix Sabates home under construction was severely damaged by fire requiring 50 firefighters over 90 minutes to control the blaze.
