Windsor's rural post office faces relocation as plans for a larger 1000 square foot building advance after a Savannah site survey. Perry, the current officer, expects to operate with more space and better amenities once the move occurs, though housing nearby remains an issue.
A table of meetings and clinics announced for today and Tuesday in Aiken County. Events include Body Dynamics sessions, council and club meetings, AA and Al Anon gatherings, health and dental clinics at the Weston Center and county health department, Senior and recreation activities, and a note inviting notices to Ryan Hennings at the Aiken Standard.
Wagener begins its annual Wagons to Wagener celebration on Thursday May 2 and runs through Sunday May 5. The event showcases town history dating to 1887 with two state wide camping club fellowships bringing about 300 campers. Activities include Hay Haw Cabaret arts and crafts bake sale steak supper pageant street dance garden show bicycle race clown contest barbeque and dances. The event also features merging festivals to raise funds for the Statue of Liberty Restoration Fund and an early church service on Sunday.
Wagener South Carolina Wagener Salley Young Farmer Association sponsors a truck and tractor pull on Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 2 pm to raise funds for the Spencer Smith Scholarship Fund. Cash prizes awarded to top places. Event on S C 39 and 302 in Wagener.
The Aiken County Board of Education will meet tomorrow at 7 pm at East Aiken Elementary School. The session will review School Improvement Council reports from each school.
Wilbur Goodwin regulatory affairs manager of the Nuclear Fuels Division will present a videotape to Savannah River Section of the American Nuclear Society. The meeting at Western Sizzlin Steak House 3607 Aiken Augusta Hwy Aiken includes social hour at 6 p.m. dinner at 6 45 p.m. and program at 7 30 p.m.
The Aiken County Court of Common Pleas was to convene this morning under Second Court Judge Rodney A. Peeples. Eleven trials were on the docket with six motions scheduled to be heard today tomorrow and Wednesday. The session was set to begin at 9 45 a.m. at the Aiken County Courthouse.
