York County school start date exemption killed in House
The House rejected a proposal to exempt York County schools from the new uniform start date and sent it to the Education and Public Works Committee. Rep. Herb Kirsh tried to recall the bill to the floor but failed with a unanimous vote requirement. Gov. Sanford had signed a law restricting start dates to after the third week of August starting 2007.

A psychologist testified that a Wal-Mart assault victim still struggles three years later while her mother and the girl sue Wal-Mart for damages. The case alleges negligent hiring of Bobby Randall, who had prior indecent exposure convictions. Randall died in prison after a 2002 sentence.
