A North Augusta woman faced a denied bond after authorities accused her of causing the death of her 15 month old son by leaving him in a car. The incident occurred earlier this month and prompted questions in this week's quiz, with Karen Peters first to answer correctly.

A four week investigation ended Thursday when state and local officers raided a Beech Island home arresting three people and seizing methamphetamine from a working lab. Arrested were Brian S. Raines 50 of Augusta, Lewis O. Johnson 48 and Tammy R. Rinker 34 all of Beech Island charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute. The search at 10 Beard Road yielded a functioning lab in a bathroom and was announced by Lt. Michael Frank of the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
In Aiken County a New Ellenton resident notes Spanish flyers calling for a May Day boycott of work and shopping by Latinos as activists plan a national Day Without Immigrants. Local business La Guadalupe in North Augusta confirms participation and urges community solidarity amid fears of raids and retaliation influence.
James A. Duncan Jr., 21, of New Ellenton, already jailed, faces two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor second degree, two counts of lewd act on a minor, and criminal solicitation of a minor. Police say a second victim has emerged and a further charge of criminal conduct second degree is filed. Warrant service occurred at the Aiken County Detention Center for alleged acts between 2005 and 2006 involving two girls aged 12 and 13.
