Dawson chosen as Columbia GOP chair amid signatures scandal

Columbia businessman Karen Dawson was elected state Republican party chair Saturday with 62 percent of the vote. Fellow contenders Cyndi Mosteller and Tommy Windsor split the rest amid accusations of forged signatures and partisan campaigning. Dawson vows unity and support from Mosteller and Windsor as the party aims to regain the governor's mansion and push Lindsey Graham toward the Senate.

Clemson President pledges tuition hike if state funds shrink

Clemson University President Jim Barker told trustees a 9 percent state cut could force another tuition increase after a 42 percent rise last summer.
