Large meth seizure prompts federal prosecution plan
Police recovered a large amount of methamphetamine described as 100 grams of powder, enough to raise charges from possession to trafficking. Sheriff’s office plans to seek federal prosecution. The raid occurred in front of a child, with authorities unsure of the drug’s exact form. Franklin said the meth “can be produced” via multiple volatile-chemical methods. Authorities noted addicts use tiny amounts to get high and emphasized the significance of the seizure. Contact Karen Daily at kdaily@aikenstandard.com.
