The Al ice Board of Education approved a preliminary 1991 92 budget with no tax increase and moved to develop a facilities referendum. Chairman Robert H Slay led a seven to one vote. New Ellenton Moves Toward Annexing 1600 Acre Research Park

New Ellenton Town Council unanimously approved an annexation ordinance paving the way for a 1600 acre research park to join the town. The Banks Mill Partnership seeks the annexation for a park to be directed by the Central Savannah River Regional Research Authority near U.S. 278 and Banks Mill Road with a 100 foot right of way. Groundbreaking and a barbecue honoring guards engineers who cleared the road are planned for today at 5 p.m. The project, east of the town by the Savannah River Site, aims to house firms including Ebasco Technical Services Inc and other high tech researchers under contracts with the DOE.
