Road Woman, 69, Dies in Freak Service-Station Crash
A 69 year old Ridgeland woman died in a freak accident at a Shell service station on I-20 at S C 39 six miles west of New Holland. A 2 year old in the car that lurched into gear survived. Traffic officer Tim D. Crocker said two cars from Augusta toward Sumter had trouble, one stopping at the ramp and one at the station. The victim, who had arrived after, stepped from her car and was struck as the other vehicle rolled forward. The woman's name was not released by Ridgeland authorities.
