Microsurfacing project underway on Powderhouse Road
The SC Department of Transportation contracts Slurry Pavers Inc of Virginia to surface 2.38 miles of Powderhouse Road in Aiken County. Resident engineer Bobby Usry notes the process is fast and weather dependent, with a possible completion by Friday if conditions allow. The contractor has already completed most of 4.21 miles on Pine Log Road from Piney Heights to Beech Island Avenue. Dede Biles, staff writer for the Aiken Standard, provides the report.

Crime blotter reports thefts and breakins across Aiken area
A Graniteville man said his vehicle was stolen while parked outside his Whaley Pond Road home. A Batchbury man reported a break in on Chinquapin Church Road. A Batesbury van and contents were taken from Old Chalk Bed Road. A Wil liston woman was charged with driving under suspension after being pulled over on Charleston Highway in Windsor. A Windsor auto shop owner said two cars were broken into while awaiting service. A 27 year old Jackson woman claimed her car was stolen from Silver Bluff Road. A juvenile from Aiken High was arrested for simple possession of marijuana and placed with her father. An 89 year old Aiken man reported damage at Marton Street. A Richland Avenue store incident involved a woman whose phone was stolen after lending it to a man.
