The Aiken Standard will publish a 70 plus page Sesquicentennial edition on Tuesday April 36 featuring stories artwork and staff pictures. Subscribers receive a copy with the daily paper while limited racks will offer the issue before it goes on sale April 30 with price increases on May 1 and mail copies at $2.

Aiken County approves an ordinance requiring coin operated devices to be licensed. The annual per machine fee is 12.50 for juke boxes video games and pinball and 5 for billiard tables. Revenues go to the Aiken County Recreation Commission. Violators face 100 fine or 30 days. Applications go to the Planning and Development Department.
The Joint Bond Review Committee unanimously approved a $7.4 million appropriation for a new science building at USCA. The project aims to expand science programs, premed and credential offerings, and research space, with SRP estimates noting retirement of about 500 workers ahead.
