Man Missing After Beating at Clay Pit Near Aiken
Aiken County investigators seek Thomas Mitchum after his wallet was found at a clay pit where a beating and apparent robbery occurred. Steven Williams injured with facial fractures was treated and released. Mitchum is missing. Authorities seek four men who may have assaulted them with a metal pipe after meeting at a Gloverville bar.

Judge Moore declares mistrial in sexual conduct case
In Aiken General Sessions Court Judge James E. Moore declared a mistrial after a jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict in a burglary and criminal sexual conduct case involving a 20 year old man Donell Price. The trial highlighted contested identification amid inconclusive forensic tests and testimony from the victim and the defendant’s parents. Eight guilty pleas were also heard, including charges of driving while intoxicated and unlawful sale of liquor. Bond was set for Emerson Johnson II on kidnapping and related charges.
