Professor teaches Holocaust awareness at Aiken Technical College
Aiken Technical College history chair Bruce McCord weaves the Holocaust into lectures for students in their late teens and early 20s. He notes films like Schindler's List broaden exposure and emphasizes the scope of Nazi persecution beyond Jews, including disabled people, Roma, Slavic groups, Jehovah's Witnesses, and homosexuals. He recalls being named a Holocaust Educational Foundation fellow in 2001 and says students gain empathy and vigilance for current global abuses.
