Beech Island carjacking and truck arson report
A Beech Island man reported a gunpoint carjacking on Swamp Road after being picked up at a gas station on Sand Bar Ferry Road. The thief fled in the victim’s car, items were stolen, and the vehicle was later recovered. Separately a .45 pistol was missing from a semi truck set ablaze on Hollow Creek Road in Salley.

Group helps SRS retirees recover unclaimed benefits

Man found dead in Lake Thurmond in Georgia authorities say
Investigators in Columbia County Georgia confirmed Tuesday the body recovered from Lake Thurmond is Devin Wright 47 of Jackson listed as a fugitive by Aiken County officials. Foul play is not suspected and Wright’s death is ruled a drowning as autopsy plans proceed in Atlanta. Wright’s arrest stemmed from a large cache of stolen property found on his Ridge Spring land and linked vehicles and gear recovered in multiple counties.
