City Polls Open for Council Race in Aiken County

City residents may vote until 7 p.m. to select Democrat Willar Hightower or Republican Jane Vaughters for the seat vacated by William Clyburn who joined the County Council. Voters must have registered 30 days prior. Polling locations include Municipal Building Precincts 1 and 35, American Legion Post 212, North Aiken Elementary, Smith Hazel Recreation Center, Aiken Elementary, St. Angela High School, H Odell Weeks Activities Center, and other precincts.

Rabid Dog Bites Four In South Carolina

Four members of a Calhoun County family were bitten or exposed to a rabid dog and are receiving rabies treatment. The dog was unconfined and unvaccinated, and health officials reported a very rabid animal. More vaccine had to be flown into the state after limited Rabies Immunoglobulin supplies were found.
