Freedom Fund speaker inspires NAACP dinner in Aiken
Roslyn Brock, vice chair of the national NAACP, addressed about 200 people at Mt. Anna Baptist Church for the 21st Annual Freedom Fund Dinner in Aiken. She urged self reliance, championed public education, and pressed South Carolina to stand against ignorance and continue the justice struggle. Local leaders, including Mayor Fred Cavanaugh and Rep. Bill Clyburn, attended and Brock highlighted scholarships and community programs.

ACTS benefit concert unites area churches for aid
Ten local church groups forming Area Churches Together Singing will host a benefit concert to raise funds for ACTS emergency needs program. The 7 30 p m Thursday April 25 event at First Baptist Church in Aiken features traditional and gospel performances. Tickets cost 10 for adults and 5 for students with outlets including Aiken Center for the Arts and several churches.
