S. C. DOT Studies Toll Road Plan Linking Seabrook Kiawah

The South Carolina Department of Transportation reviews a $140 million 13.5 mile toll road proposal by private investors to connect Seabrook and Kiawah Islands with the Mark Clark Expressway. The plan envisions a 10.6 mile four lane parkway, a 2.9 mile link, and a Sea Islands Parkway Authority. Initial $1 toll would apply to both roadways financed by tolls, bonds, and a $12 million DOT loan, with completion possible in three years.
