A Columbia AP brief reports a Senate Finance subcommittee worries the public might think minimum requirements for public school teachers in the state are eroded. The concern arises as 900 teachers lose their jobs July 1 for failing one of four minimum proficiency standards in the 1984 Education Improvement Act reform package.
