American Sub Hits Ship Off Japan Sinking Freighter Reported
The Japanese freighter Nissho Maru sank after colliding with the U S S George Washington, a nuclear powered submarine, off southern Japan. Thirteen crew members of the freighter were rescued and there were no injuries or propulsion system damage aboard the submarine.
