Study finds link between herpes virus and AIDS cancer
A UC San Francisco study provides strong evidence that herpes virus 8 is linked to Kaposi's sarcoma, a cancer common in AIDS patients. Among 400 HIV infected gay men, 74 percent carried the virus, vs 17 percent of uninfected homosexuals and none of heterosexuals. dual infection raised KS risk to about 50 percent over ten years.
