Aiken Historic Preservation Commission approved a Certificate of Appropriateness for replacing a Whiskey Road wooden fence with chain link and Magnolia Street section with a brick lattice, to protect Oakmeade the Dureveaux Milburn House listed on the National Register. The panel also backed Triton PCS antenna work on the York Street water tower and approved Holland’s Easy Street pool house project after a tense meeting.

Law officers host student spring break sports day at park
Students from Silver Bluff North Augusta Ridge Spring Monetta Midland Valley and Aiken joined officers for a picnic style day of flag football basketball volleyball and track at Virginia Acres Park. Silver Bluff High won the overall trophy as officers emphasized building trust and rapport with students. Boy struck by car near boxing club in Clearwater
Police report a 14 year old boy boxing at a boxing club in Clearwater April 6 was struck in the chest and leg by a vehicle driven by a 17 year old. The driver stopped then left the scene. No arrest made and under investigation. Several burglaries and vandalism were reported in Aiken County including electronics theft on Pineland Terrace and a TV missing on Elizabeth Street. A hotel guest reported a missing cellular phone stolen during the Masters event. A car was vandalized on Pine Log Road with a sharp object scratching the vehicle.
