Farewell to Two Historic Aiken Elementary Schools
Students and faculty bid farewell as Aiken Elementary and Laurens Street Elementary merge into a new school on Whiskey Road. The old sites' histories trace back to the 19th century, with the Laurens Street building designed by Willis Irwin and opened in 1937 after a tornado halted nearby construction.
