Accident reconstruction team maps deadly York Street crash
Investigators with Aiken Public Safety returned to the 800 block of York Street to document the fatal Saturday crash in which Lakisha Nicole Thomas 29 of Aiken died after being struck by a Jeep driven by Thomas G Woodruff Jr. 2 year old son uninjured. Ray Charles Wooden Jr. remains in stable condition. The team uses surveying data and calculus to draw a scale diagram of the scene.

Midland Valley senior mourned by school community
Tanner Lewis 17, a gifted student at Midland Valley High School, died after a brief illness. Friends held a memorial in the library with a Monopoly game in his honor. He earned Eagle Scout, played on the academic team, and was accepted to Duke University.

Compass Academy severs ties with Jay Brooks for school opening
At a Tuesday hearing the Compass Academy board and Jonathan Brooks agreed to appoint receivers over assets frozen by the Attorney General amid accusations of illegal securities sales and fund misuse. Brooks will no longer engage with Compass while the school proceeds to open in eight weeks.
