Rankin Named WPBM Station Manager In Aiken
Aiken resident and veteran broadcaster Jack Rankin has been named station manager of WPBM AM and FM after the station sale announcement last week. David Schoumacher notes Rankin's vast experience in broadcasting and advertising and his understanding of Aiken and its people. Rankin says he aims to serve adult listeners in Aiken with music and news. Rankin and his wife Eleanor Elmerick live in the Kalmia Hill area with their six children. Bonner Smith of North Augusta moves into the former Coleman's Shoe Store in downtown Aiken at 108 Laurens Street, displaying handmade items. Smith is assisted by Ann Grooms Blanche Knight Mandy Thompson Carol Reeve and Mary Musick of Sandhill Station, inviting friends to view tables, benches, hutches, furniture, shelves, and bread boxes and seasonal decorations.

Enrollment Up 16 Percent at Aiken TEC Programs
Langley reports Aiken TEC enrollment up 16 percent from last fall with 1700 students in degree diploma and certificate programs. Sharp gains occur in one and two year diploma courses led by General Office Chemical Laboratory Assistant Automotive and Welding. Degree programs see improvement in Accounting and Secretarial Science.
