Elizabeth Miller known as grand ma Miller at 101 years and five months pieced a quilt block without glasses or a thimble with neater workmanship than a young girl, a claim Thorntown argues for as the state’s oldest lady record.
An appeal from Edinburgh, Indiana, asks the state superintendent of public instruction to issue stringent rules against boys smoking on public school grounds. W D Lesp of near Kewanna and Mrs Laura Smith of Indianapolis wed at the bride’s home on Wednesday Sept 11 the ceremony performed by John R Daily Primitive Baptist minister. After visiting relatives they went to Mr Leap’s home. The groom long prominent in Advance business later moved to Lebanon then near Kendhna on a farm. The bride is sister to Tim Smith of Indianapolis and A J Smith of Lebanon. Both well regarded and their many friends offer congratulations.
Attendance at Sunday School last Sunday was 111 and the collection totaled 2.55 with 52 bibles. Willing Workers meet on the first Tuesday afternoon each month. Regular preaching services are next Sunday with the morning service devoted to church extension and an offering to be taken. All members are urged to attend. Evening service at 7:30 with the topic My Brother's Keeper.
Milan County reports E M Se vies visited the Advance school and the Athenians and Ciceronians societies held meetings. Officers were listed for Athenians and a program for Friday September 27 featured songs readings and recitations with multiple students involved.
