J G Hankins prominent Thorntown citizen dies at Witham hospital following Friday saw mill accident. He was born October 8 1847 in Charleston and lived in Thorntown eight years. Survived by daughter Mrs L R Miller and son E E Hankins. wife died 1920. Funeral Thursday at 9 20 AM in Thorntown.

North Christian Church Notes on Activities and Attendance
Bible school attendance 130 and offering 6.63. After morning service high school students organized the church youth group with first meeting planned for Tuesday night October 23. Last Friday night a reception welcomed new members from the cooperative revival. Services Sunday October 21 include Bible school 10 30 communion and preaching second message in the church series. Evening worship theme The Ministry of John the Baptist. Thursday midweek Bible study to follow. Reports from revival attendance and follow up efforts noted along with anticipated attendance by several members.
Indiana corn harvest shows decided decrease
State cooperative crop reporting service notes a drop of 16,868,000 bushels from September estimates. Corn at eighty six percent of normal with 184,608,000 bushels projected. frost in twenty two counties and satisfactory cutting. Wheat, oats, barley, buckwheat, sweet potatoes, and tobacco fall. white potatoes apples hay rise slightly.

Edgar Hume born January 12 1880 in Hendrick county Indiana died October 9 1923 at age 43 years 7 months 27 days. He left a widow Ethel Jane Van Horn and seven living children Arnol Irma Chester Lena Frances Lester Edgar Junior. Two children Lucife and Leonard preceded him. He moved to Advance thirteen years ago and worked for McNess Medicine Company until his death. A generous public promoter and family man he served as deacon of his church and held Red Men Klansman roles. He leaves a wife seven children two grandchildren Norma Jean and one sister Rosettaine McClaine.
