George W. Miles state commissioner of fisheries and game agreed to sponsor a bill to prohibit aigrette sales in Indiana. He conferred with T. Gilbert Pearson of the National Audubon Society and heard from a conservation congress delegation about protecting wildlife. Pearson outlined efforts to stop plumage slaughter and guards protecting nesting sites in southern swamps.
After the oil drill reached 2400 feet at Waynetown no oil was found and the well was abandoned. A new company has been formed and plans another hole. Locals believe there may be oil in this locality.

On October 2 1912 the Advance Town Board will receive sealed bids at the Town Building Advance Indiana between 1 and 2 PM for a concrete bridge over the John P Services ditch on South East street. Specifications include two 16 foot concrete charmsit 12 inch thick 6 foot 2 inch high girders four 4 foot long 12 inch thick wings 6 feet 7 inches high and four part gravel to one part cement concrete. The contractor must remove the old bridge lay sleepers top abutments and complete for public traffic within fourteen days. The board may accept or reject any bid. Attendance last Sunday was 124 with collections of 367 and 53 bibles. Willing Workers meet first Tuesday afternoon each month. Sunday School every Sunday at 10. Special effort to be on time next Sunday. Preaching services held every second and fourth Sunday of each month both morning and evening.
Mary Margaret McCammon born December 7 1834 in Putnam County died October 12 1912 at her Advance home. She married John Wall in 1862 and had three children Alice Willette Willa Canaila and George William who died 1895. Survived by sister Mariam right seven grandchildren and many friends. She joined the M E church at sixteen and remained a faithful member. Funeral services held at the M E church at 2 PM Tuesday with Rev Francis Inofficiating and interment at Mt Zion.

The Rogers family mourns as Homer and Manson Rogers, two young sons of Robt. Rogers and his wife, die within a week. Homer aged two died at 3 15 p m Saturday. Services were held at the home and Mt. Zion cemetery. The parents receive community sympathy.

Mrs Francis Jane Smith, age 82, died Sunday night at Wm Zimmerman’s home in Jackson township from cancer of the face after five months illness. Born May 19 1830 in Decatur county, she married Vinson E Smith Sept 1 1847. Survived by children Ella Martin James Mard A Z Smith and Carrie Zimmerman with brother James Williamson. Funeral Tuesday 11 am at Advance ME Church with Rev D Tillotson. burial in 100F cemetery Jamestown.
The Willing Workers of the North Christian church plan a Hal lowe en social on Wednesday night October 30 in the church basement. Dover families including Wm Maddox and others are quarantined for infantile paralysis and the town school remains closed. Last week Ladoga Leader reports no new diphtheria cases and no further spread expected.
Sealed bids are invited at the Bank of Advance until Monday November 4 at 10 A M for cash sale of the Joho Smith farm four miles north of Advance and 20 acres four miles west of Max. The bid allowance reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Joho Smith Heira.

John J. Epperson died at his home Tuesday evening at 8 30 from cerebral hemorrhage. He had been wealthy since Saturday. Funeral services were held at the house at 104 m Thursday. Interment at Jamestown.
The township Sunday School convention, held at the North Christian church last Sunday, drew broad Representations from every school in the township. James Fink was chosen president and Opal Fink secretary for the ensuing year.
The Shiloh Christian Church reports last Sunday's Sunday School attendance at 54 with incomplete details. A cordial invitation is extended to all for singing Thursday. Rev Kibbey will fill regular appointments Sunday and Sunday night with planned special music and noted sermons. Everyone is welcome at all services.
Grandma Beech and John and Newt Beech and their families of Pittsboro shared meals. Geo Canada and wife and Beasie Nisley dined with Joseph Sandlin and wife Sunday. Aunt Jane Bowman spent Saturday in Lebanon.
