A Jackson Township Sunday School Association bulletin urges readers to keep the church fires burning during May. It calls on families to attend weekly services, volunteer, and support the war effort, stressing loyalty to government and God and the need for donations and participation.
The Jackson township Sunday school association launches a four Sunday May drive to boost church and Sunday school participation. Volunteers to wear flags, mail 1000 pieces, and hold a grand jubilee on the fourth Sunday at the Advance community building.
Graduation notices announce Kate Owens and Paul Ross as part of the class of 18. The item identifies two graduates likely from a local school publication and notes completion of their courses.
A large Boone County gathering at the courthouse registered war mothers and collected addresses for servicemen. Mrs Florence Lambert registered four sons. Mayme Sheriten spoke on defense work. Alice French praised women’s service and voting restraint. a $14 Red Cross memorial collection was taken. The next meeting will be the last Saturday in May.
The morning service at Central Christian church initiated the Men and Millions campaign within the Disciples of Christ in this city. Rev. W. T. Barbie highlighted the need and secured pledges totaling 3750 from members including Huston Weaver Lafayette Wilson John Powell and families with larger gifts from several others. This first local appeal follows earlier Clinton county pledges and will continue with an every member canvass.
Frank P. Routh, aged 52 years and 4 days, died at his city home Saturday evening at 7 25 o clock after a 22 day illness.

In Denton Montana a Red Cross auction drew a large crowd with Col Powers and W C McLaughlin as auctioneers. The event raised about 1320 dollars from bids on a bird dog hat and numerous goods, plus cash gifts totaling 1705.60. Proceeds support Red Cross ladies and soldiers in trenches and cantonments.
