Friday service features sentence prayers and a violin solo by Thora Melson. Vocal duet by the Morris girls and a prayer by Rev DeBruler follow, with song led by the congregation.
Card of thanks expresses gratitude to the bearer and Brother Rector for his counsel in words and to everyone who helped during the sickness. The note thanks all who offered aid and support in that difficult time.
A lighthearted program titled Grandma and Grandpa promises humorous moments with smiles and a few tears. The event is scheduled for Saturday night March 8.
The Grade Oratorical will be held in the high school auditorium on Wednesday March 12 at 7 30. Dr Robi J Aley president of Butler college will deliver the commencement address this year. Advance team praised for performance in Lebanon tournament with Lucas as high point man. Plans are laid for a track team and jokes to appear next week.
Lee Gill writes from near Whistle Alabama describing his father Sam Gill milking fourteen cows and selling sweet milk at 60 cents per gallon buttermilk at 30 cents and eggs at 45 cents per dozen. He travels to market in a Flivver three times a week and notes zero weather last winter with plans to plant corn now.
Clay Sheets, Lyle John and families, and Clair Leeke with their relatives spent Sunday at John Nicely's residence to celebrate Mrs Niceley's birthday. The gathering was joyful and she received many presents. Mrs Niceley claimed it marked her 15th birthday, though the claim invites doubt.
After a mediocre season Lebanon High School found its stride in the sectional final defeating Advance 27 to 23. Led by Lasley Clemens Cook Havens and Harlan the Lebanon defense outshone its season, building momentum with a 10 to 5 halftime lead and drawing the largest tourney crowd.
Emily Naomi Beaver daughter of James W and Sally Jones was born November 14 1853 in Henry county Kentucky later moving to Boone county. She married J B in 1871 and joined Pisgah Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member. She died February 27 1924 at age 70 years 3 months and 14 days leaving a husband two sons Ora H and Austin J two daughters Ida B Joseph and Laddie Fulwider twelve grandchildren five brothers and two sisters The funeral was at North Christian church by C L Airhart with Geo Wyatt assisting Burial followed at Pisgah.
Boone county assessors start annual valuation work with 12 township officials reporting weekly to the county assessor P F Wilson. Personal property and added improvements to be taxed this year. real estate last assessed in 1922. Wilson aims for true market value and coordination with neighboring counties as work runs to May.
Mrs. Mary J. Booker of Jamestown stays with granddaughter Edna Bishop due to poor health. Mrs. Fay Broshar remains about the same and quite low. Mrs. E. C. Wall of Lebanon visits sister Talitha Frazier. Miss Mary Rice spent the weekend in Whitestown. George Joseph of New Winchester came Sunday for Mrs. Joseph who attended her mother’s funeral. Leola McClaine of Indianapolis visited her parents. Edna Jones taught for Sallie Fulwider. Rev. E. C. Geeding and others attended a Crawfordsville conference. N. H. Meek and Mrs. C L. Airhart attended Mrs. J. Beaver’s funeral. Harry Smith of Chicago visited Sylvia and Mildred Bowman. Rey Ailes and wife were at their farm near New Market. Read Hustler Ads. Charles Forbes and family and Beulah Leap visited John Caldwell and wife. Willis Fulwider and wife of WhitesTown attended the funeral of Mrs. Fulwider’s grandmother Mrs. Jake Beaver. Mrs. Rev. Lawler returned home after two weeks with Prof. Lawler’s family. Lola McClain of Indianapolis spent the weekend with her parents.
Opal Faye Hedge, born June 13 1902 in Hendricks County Indiana to David and Laura Hedge, died February 26 1924 at her Advance Indiana home at 21 years, 8 months, 13 days. She married Basil H Smith on August 3 1921, aided by a faith in Christ and service as a Sunday school teacher. Her husband’s parents Ollie and Mrs Smith were a source of joy, and her father died earlier. She is laid to rest after a life of religious devotion and family ties.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to all who helped during Opal Smiths illness death and funeral. Grateful for doctors ministers pallbearers flower girls singers undertaker and the Sunday school for arranging a trained nurse. Signed by the family.

Seventy five thousand Knights of Pythias in Indiana prepare five regional meetings March 10 to 14 to honor the Rathbone Bible. The talismanic book, gifted by the mother of Justus H. Rathbone, founder of the order, will be carried by Harry M. Love to administer obligations as 112 lodges from 19 counties, including Boone, contest for page rank on March 12 in Indianapolis with 1,000 candidates.
Albert Alfrey and Josie Gray of Ladoga Indiana were married last night at Prof Caplinger home in Whitestown with Rev Ora McDaniel officiating. Alfrey, a Ladoga National Guard lieutenant, served 2.5 years in Europe in WWI. The bride, a Ladoga High School alumna, plans to reside in Ladoga. A six o'clock dinner followed. no guests due to Prof Caplinger's niece death. A benefit play for Ladies Aid Society set for Saturday night March 8. Admission 15 and 25 cents.
A Junior Missionary session is planned for Tuesday March 11 with Wanda and Kenneth Plunket guiding. The program includes His Temptation and Ours, Yield Not to Temptation, prayer led by Nora McCabe, Bible lesson by Merrill Frazier, and a benediction with a thank offering.
