Jerry Higgins manager of the Advance Band arranged special music for band concerts. Saturday Genevieve Clifton sang beautifully, yet only three people applauded. Higgins believes people may not enjoy singing with band music and urges not to discontinue specials.
The Christian church asks for cake donations for Saturday ice cream supper. A colored troupe performed in Advance last week, though their tent was nearly demolished by a Saturday storm. J. D. Emmert visited Advance with a new address at 1249 Kentucky Ave. Simeon Bush recently moved from near Mt. Zion to Indianapolis. Mrs. Ida Cary of Lebanon provides over 50 chiropractic adjustments weekly to Advance patients. Charlies Farlow and family visited Vera Harsbarger’s family. Robert stayed over a week. A 30 by 36 hog barn is being built on Mrs. George McDaniel’s farm. Charles Bean is boss. Mrs. Messer Powell has heart troubles. Ross Caldwell plans to move his family to Kokomo for a good job. Virgil Van Horm of Cicero visited here Friday. Mrs. Laura Hedge moved to property in town’s north part. Lora McClaine visited Indianapolis Sunday. she returned with his homeward accompany. Several locals visited A. N. Lewis in Indianapolis. his condition remains serious.
Mark Wahl transacted business in Thorntown on Tuesday on streets once named Advance now lost, reflecting local street name changes and business activity in the town.

A robbery at Pearson’s Clothing Store in Wayne town saw 2500 dollars in clothing stolen. The Ward Church picnic at Darlington Park featured their minister F E Graves. A train incident near Bowers briefly threw passengers from seats but avoided a collision with a bread truck from Frankfort. The official board met to form finance music usher and entertainment committees. On Sunday 130 attended the first service of the pastor’s second year. the pastor is hopeful for growth in church and community life. Mrs Marion Craver was called to Filmore for her father’s death. Patronize the ladies Saturday night. Several local visits and travels involving Frank Riner, Tampa Shalley, Mrs George Weldon, and Mrs J A Landis are noted along with other community visits.
A July 9 gathering of nearby disciple churches is announced to discuss a proposed postoffice creed approved by the W. Irving Glover regime. The creed urges meticulous mail preparation including legible addresses full postage and sender details to aid government efficiency.
Mrs. May Bell Sutton 52 died Sunday at 8 45 am at her son A L Suttons home in New Ross from carcinoma after a two year illness. Born Mt Sterling Alabama January 7 1871 she was daughter of Henry W Aurand and a Nazarene church member. Survived by mother and four children C F Miller Terre Haute Mrs Gussie Whitsit Indianapolis A L Miller New Ross Floyd Miller New Ross. Funeral at son A L Millers New Ross 2 30 pm with Rev F E Graves officiating, burial I O O F Cemetery.
Earl Darnell of near New Ross Indiana died Saturday morning at 7 10 from heart trouble after lingering illness since November He was born January 30 1891 in New Ross son of Milton and Louisa Darnell He married Hazel Hartman October 21 1916 and they had two children Survived by his wife two children his parents two sisters Maggie Harshbarger Veedersburg Grace McGaughey Russellville and brother Arthur G Darnell Lafayette He was a Christian church member and IOOF member Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a m at the home conducted by Rev Kelley of Terre Haute Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery
