Mark A. Bowman sold his bakery to E. L. Walker and Son who took possession at midnight. Donald Airhart, an experienced baker, will run it. E. L. Walker also owns the restaurant and a share in the local picture show. Bowman has not decided his next move.
Mr. F. E. Lee of Indianapolis is employed at the Serring black smith shop. He began work there last Tuesday, Feb. 17. Otis Klinger, formerly with Serrings, is now employed at the Fairbanks Morris plant in Indianapolis.
Report notes a man and his wife from Indianapolis plan to open a barber shop and beauty parlor in the Roark rooms after they are repaired and redecorated. The location is described as a splendid spot for business.
Reverend Geo H Reibold of Danville will preach at Community Service Sunday evening March 1 at 7 00 at the M E Church. The M E Church notes on page five contain a mistake.
The Advance H S basketball squad defeated Thorn Town High by a close score in their home gym. They head to Darlington Friday night for the final regular season game before the tournament, and support is needed.
Washington reports President Coolidge has finished a draft of his inaugural address and is trimming it for brevity. He plans a substantial, policy‑driven speech over more than half an hour, outlining arms control, foreign policy directions, and tax reform after March 4.
Advance Feb 2 a stand of bees seeking a new home settled in a chimney at the McClellan farm. Ernest McClellan had moved away last week and Bert Ferguson moved in. Ferguson used the chimney, started a fire, and a room filled with smoke. They punched down the hive spot with a pole. The bees may have been trying to work for the state fire marshal to seal a dangerous flue, but a new chimney resulted. Frank Rine estimates honey around 1000 pounds.
The Entertains Club was entertained by Mrs. Quince Canada and Mrs. Farr Waters last Thursday at Waters home. Prizes went to Mrs. Cecil Burris and Mrs. Kenneth Frazier in a crossword contest. Refreshments featured margarita fruit salad and juice. Attendees included Mrs. Leaton Day, Mrs. Mapbate, Mrs. Arlie Hancock, Mrs. Wayne McClaine, and others. Hancock and Day to host next.
Charlie Ray and four Hoopeston men visited North Christian Church last Sunday seeking a minister. The group sat separately, not revealing their purpose at first, and later learned they were a committee evaluating a potential candidate. They had Sunday dinner with George Rays.
In the County Latin Contest at Lebanon on Saturday February 28 four high school contestants will compete. Beginners Latin Class features Ida Jane Culley and Robert Wyatt while Cicero Class includes Elizabeth Swisher and Verlin McClaine. Advance Bakery advertises bread and bakery goods.

Washington Feb 25 Senator Medill McCormick of Illinois died suddenly at his hotel from a gastric hemorrhage He appeared in good health and arose about 3 a m before collapsing at 9 30 am Mrs McCormick has been summoned from Chicago The death is due to natural causes and there were no suspicious circumstances He served as Illinois senator since 1919 and was once linked with a potential ambassadorship to Germany He was born in 1877 in Chicago and affiliated with the Chicago Tribune family business The deceased leaves three children and was married to the daughter of Senator Hanna

Local reports note Cross is pushing his players hard each evening and seeks another victory to extend his streak.
