Funeral services for Isaac Emmert aged 86, longtime Boone County resident, were held at Mt Zion Methodist Protestant church. Born December 30 1846 in Boone County, he lived his life in the county and died at 706 West North Street. He married Susannah Gibatat in 1854.
Survived by five sons Richard Edgar Taylor Isaac Jr and Maud and three daughters Mrs Melvina Day Mrs Anna Shaw and Mrs Lulu Scott. His second wife Martha Ann Bowman died July 30 1917. He farmed in Jackson township thirty two years before moving to the city. He joined Mt Zion Methodist Protestant then the Christian church at Jamestown and finally Central Christian in Lebanon. Widely known and highly esteemed.
Perry Central opened with a 29 to 8 victory over Franklin Ohio and followed with a 28 to 10 win against Ludlow Kentucky in Cincinnati. Lineups include Mosher Shirley Edwards Cohen Bealegheett and Warren with substitutions noted as the teams posted field goals and fouls.
Bridget Shanahan died February 15 at her residence two miles east of Advance from cancer after a year of illness. She was 56, born in Montgomery County, married Dennis Shanahan December 16, 19— in Crawfordsville. Survivors include Mary and Hazel. brothers John, Edgar, Albert, Thomas, Daniel Lane. sisters Margie, Lizzie Lane, and Mrs. Van Wright. She belonged to St Insenwh s Church in Lebanon. Funeral from St Joseph Church at 1 6 a. m. Thursday.
Dr. Robert C. Blood of Concord New Hampshire national vice commander of the American Legion received the Distinguished Service Cross Croix de Guerre and a divisional citation for bravery. He advanced with the first wave of infantry and set up an first aid dressing station near the fallen doughboys at Chateau Thierry.
The report traces Dr Blood through the Twenty sixth division to the One Hundred Third units as a medical officer on the Chemin des Dames in 1918. He later served at Base Hospital No 9 Chatereaux and the Paris Red Cross hospital before returning to Verdun as divisional orthopedic surgeon. He organized the Concord Region post, leading it two and a half years to become New Hampshire’s largest post, and held state and national leadership roles since 1922.
Lee Huckstep a prominent farmer near North Salem and member of Prof Walter Huckstep of Lebanon fell from a ladder while trimming trees on his farm. He sustained a broken back and was found unconscious but conscious by his wife. A specialist was summoned for evaluation.
Mrs. Grover Veach died at 3 80 Sunday afternoon from paralysis at her Thorntown home. Aged twenty nine, she leaves a husband and three children. The funeral will be from the Thorntown home at 2 p m Sunday, with burial in St Joseph Cemetery at Maple Lawn. Father Marchal to officiate. Burial to follow there.
