Attendance at Sunday school reached 153 with a $5 offering. The Ladies Aid Anniversary begins Thursday at six with supper and a program. The church business meeting is Friday at seven. Revival services continue nightly at Oil Union church with children’s emphasis. Pastor E. C. Geeding invites all.
A church meeting led by Stella Leeke with Grace Wall as the host includes prayers by Mrs. Clara Jones and Anna Gordon. Hymns are sung, Bible lessons by George McDaniel, and talks cover Planting the church Beulah River, Orientals in America by Bernice English, Original Americans by Edith Wall, Highland Frontiers by Rose Caldigden, with questions answered by the society.
The advance North Christian church announces its annual meeting for January 1 1924 at 7 30 pm to elect one trustee for a three year term and other officers. Missionary Band programs include songs prayers Bible readings and a Cinderella story with participants Dale Showalter George McDaniel Laura Graves Merrill Frazier Lester Hypes Wanda Plunkett Freeda McClaine and Ora McDaniel. Clergy conductors G Geeding Wyant Wilkinson Wall and others lead meetings at Union Mt Zion James town Providence Mont Clair.
Bruce Pickering butchered hogs Friday and Monday. Herald Meadows spent the weekend with D. O. Meadows and family. Bruce Pickering and wife shopped in Lebanon Monday. Herald Bennet and family from Indianapolis visited Elisha Higs and wife. Bruce Pickering and family were Sunday visitors. J. W. James of this town spent Thanksgiving with son Harry James and family. Gladys Lewis and pupils of Golladay school attended a Wednesday afternoon living program.
No bids were received at the Anderson offices by noon for the Midland, later postponed to March 17. Judge Anderson set a $945,000 minimum. The Midland’s history spans from its 1880s formation by Crawford to later reorganizations and federal court sales, with parcels debated but the judge preferring one bidder. Abandonment would hurt towns along the line including Lapel Durbin Rosston Gadston Westfield Lebanon Ladoga Waveland Bridgeton and Bridgeton area rail facilities.
Married at the home of Mrs. Emma Riley in Lebanon on a Wednesday afternoon, officiated by Rev. Geo Wyatt with a single ring ceremony. The bride Miss Decia Stout is sister to Mrs. W. W. Caldwell and has many friends. groom Lawrence Pointer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Pointer and a young farmer. After a short trip, they will reside with the Pointer family.
The state highway program opens bids December 18 for 85 miles of paving and 13 miles of gravel base from two miles north of Royalton to Lebanon as part of 400 miles of pavement planned for 1924. The project includes three pavement types with cement supplied by the commission and bids from contractors. Royalton to Lebanon likely will be cement.
