On Friday night Advance met Whitestown in a clean game marked by many fouls under new rules. The first half ended Advance 23 Whitestown 9, and the final score favored Advance 37 to 20 as Whitestown struggled to breach the defense.
The new Ford sedan owned by T. E. Burrin, stolen during a Frankfort basketball game on November 22, was recovered in Elwood. Two boys, who drove it to the city between 2 and 3 a.m., parked it near a restaurant and left. Police found gasoline-filled milk cans in the car and noted a changed license plate, removed seat covers, and an added radiator motor meter. The youths fled before officers could locate them.
Ora McDaniel, who had been undergoing treatment at Hill House Sanitarium in Martinsville for two weeks, was forced to return home Friday due to a recurrence of the flu.
Pietra La Verda, an entertainer of many talents, performed a two hour show at the community lyceum. The capacity house enjoyed a varied program including playing several instruments drawing and demonstrations of other talents.
Rev. Geo. D. Wyatt will occupy the pulpit at the Providence Christian church each Thursday evening beginning Thursday night.
Family thanks neighbors and friends who assisted in gathering the corn Tuesday. The note expresses appreciation for the community’s aid and support during the harvest.
A reorganiz ation meeting and social evening by the Farm Bureau drew large attendance. John Rohn was elected chairman and W A Lane secretary to serve the coming year. John S Hussey, county school superintendent, delivered an inspiring address. The Ladies Aid Societies of the three Advance churches.
Mr and Mrs Farr Waters and son Farr Jacob visited Mr and Mrs John Whitecott for dinner Sunday. Mr and Mrs Arlie Hahcock spent Sunday with Mrs Clara Be McDaniel. Miss Eunice Ross, teaching at Knightstown, was a guest of her parents over Thanksgiving and served oyster soup.
Local schools raise funds by selling Christmas seals to support a good cause. The item notes residents sending Christmas greetings, visiting relatives, and Thanksgiving gatherings, with names and towns such as Tell City Frankfort Campbellsburg Michigantown Shannondale and Middletown mentioned among social visits.
Lawrence Whitecotton and Max Proffitt spent the week end with Mrs Verna Proffitt in Kentucky. Miss Mary Rice and Miss Ethel Barker spent Thanksgiving in Marshall Indiana with Miss Rice's parents. Miss Louise Showajter spent Seeder 40. Sanday with relatives.

Mrs Cleon Aliff of Roachdale visited to tend the Higgins who were ill with flu and are now able to be out again. Mr and Mrs S J Billingsly spent Sunday with Carl Ferguson and family.

Mr. and Mrs Otis Wall and son Jack spent Sunday in Rankin Hill with Mrs J W Waters and Mrs Demna Baldwin. Mrs Baldwin has been suffering from boils under her arm. Ross Caldwell and family of Litton spent the weekend with Wm Lucas and family. Lowell Emmert of Indianapolis visited Sunday. Mr and Mrs Sylvan Yager of Terre Haute spent Thanksgiving with Mrs Alice Yager and children. Clair Dean of Indianapolis was home over Sunday. A dinner honored Charlie Canada’s birthday on Thanksgiving. Several families shared meals at Frank Gregory’s home including Ollie Gregory Stella Padgett and children from Lebanon. Jeff Shelley and Mrs Lewis Caldwell are ill writing. Willis Fulwider of Green's Fork spent the weekend here with relatives.
The county commissioners renewed contracts for 1925 including Will Hedge as courthouse janitor at 90 dollars monthly, Anna Routh as elevator operator at 70 dollars, A J Coons as courthouse grounds custodian at 85 dollars, and Dr John R Porter as county physician with per call rates for jail infirmary and orphans home. Groceries bids for the county farm and orphans home for the quarter ending March 31 1925 will be opened at 10 am Tuesday January 6. Continued on page five.
Leteneeseee Americanization work shows a shifting mindset of a visitor to a house. The Burris sisters Misses Lorene and Beulah Burris sang Remember Me Oh Lord. Relatives in town include Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ross of Lafayette and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ryan and son who visited last Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. William Ross. Dorothy Lasley of Indianapolis spent the weekend with relatives here. Mrs. Harry Reese and Lowell Emmert joined supper guests last Thursday evening at Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bowman and daughter Maude. Mrs. Clara B. McDaniel hosted Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Hancock and Mrs. Ora McDaniel and children Lula Bright and George Eugene.
Neighbors and friends of Thos Hendrix gathered Tuesday at his home near here to husk his fifty acre crop. Jean and Evelyn McCollum of Shelbyville spent the weekend with Dr and Mrs O A Nelson. Mrs Bell Rogers, previously ill, is able to go out.
Social notes detail visits from the Burrins, Whitecottons, and Quince Canada families in Walton and Indianapolis. Rev. A G Abbott led the revival close at the local M. E. Church as students returned home from college for the weekend.
Rev E C Geeding reports steady attendance and high interest in a revival at Old Union, now entering its second week. Berean Class of the North church plans a Friday evening gathering at the church. Thanksgiving guests include Ora Nicely and family, Clay Sheets and family, Clair Letke and family, Lyle Johnson and family, and Walter Nicely and family from Goodlaid and Lebanon.
Rev George Wyatt left Monday morning for Valley Station Kentucky to visit his sister and father and will return Thursday. He travels privately and the trip is described as a short family visit with no indicated complications or delays.
The Junior Mission Band gathers at Opal and Dale Showalter residence for songs readings prayers and Bible lessons from Matthew chapters 25. A film reading The Kid Around the Corner and a reading The Shepherd of Bethlehem are listed along with songs and a Love Gift. The Ladies Aid Society of North Christian Church plans a bazaar at the Hustler office on December 18.
The Woman's Society meets at Martha A Graves home on Wednesday December 10 with Mrs Ethel Hypes leading. The service includes a devotional, prayer, a lesson on service to others, a special offering, and hymn Help Somebody Today.
The M E Church highlights Sunday services at 10:00 a m Sunday school and 11:00 a m preaching by Rev Mrs Carrie Beaver followed by 7:00 p m union services with sermon by Rev Geo D Whitat Special music and Gracious Community Service. Mr and Mrs George Brosha hosted Thanksgiving guests Mrs Hazle Hunt and daughters from Lebanon Mr and Mrs Herman Broshar Crawfordsville Mr and Mrs Oakley Riner and son Bobby and Cleo Broshar and family.
Bonds for Clinton Saunders sheriff elect and John W Ful wider surveyor elect were approved by the county board of commissioners. Each bond is for six thousand dollars. Meeting members include M. Storm Turn bs, Samuel S Heath, Les McClaine, Budd, and Bee Shoemaker.
