Advance notes North Christian church to host homecoming on Sunday with a basket dinner at noon and Rev Samuel Smith of Ladoga delivering the afternoon address as the music committee finalizes its program.
A Brinegar reunion gathered Tuesday at Memorial Park Lebanon with a noon pitch in dinner. Attendees included Urban Powell and son Harold Franklin Wren Powell Noblesville Harve Parr Lebanon Willis Parr Arlie Hancock Ora McDaniel James Ashwell Clara McDaniel Charles Blunk Oris Ashwell Elzie Rogers Mildred Rogers M M Edrington Debard Starwalt and others.
Despite bad weather, forty two relatives and friends gathered at Mr and Mrs W O Weldons home for the annual Weldon family reunion. A bountiful noon dinner was served. Seventeen attendees came from Paragon including an aunt of Mrs Weldon who stayed for a visit with Welton relatives.
Mr and Mrs Mark Wall and daughter Gladys arrived Tuesday night en route to Michigan where they will remain three weeks.
Ed Graham's barn north of Max was struck by lightning and burned to the ground on Friday night. Graham was away when the blaze started, trapping the structure in flames. Loss was partly covered by insurance, with repairs expected forthcoming.
The new Indiana Methodist Children's Home opens tomorrow at noon in Lebanon with about thirty children and matrons arriving from Greencastle. Local business leaders will escort them, return for luncheon, and offer support as the facility readies dormitories dining rooms and living spaces.
Clarence Rogers of Brownsburg and Miss Louise Hiller of Jamestown were married. Dr. Stout has purchased bunk beds and furniture to aid the Home, all through Lebanon businesses. He praised community support and thanked locals for helping bring children to Lebanon in their cars. Other items note Jessie Dushane’s Indianapolis trip, Thora Melson visiting Esther Burrin, sidewalk repairs near Melson store and Burrin Drug Store, Rev. Oro McDaniel’s sermon, Thomas Nelson returning home from New Market, and the Nelsons hosting visitors from D. A. Nelsons. The couple will move to Peoria Illinois where he teaches. Marvin Caldwell family visits South Bend.
The Brown family reunion was held last Friday at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Brown with forty five attendees. Present were Elvin Hurt and family of Hall Indiana Walter Hannah and wife of Martinsville Roy Robins and family of Monrovia Eddie Brown and family James Brown and family Mr and Mrs Eli Brown Robert Brown and family Nesbert Brown and family James Graham and family Earl Canada and family and Ivan Wall and family. A number of relatives from nearby towns visited in the days surrounding the reunion.
T J Caldwell and family will depart Monday for La Junta Colorado to spend the winter. Their daughter Cordela who has spent several years there is teaching and their son Marold will also teach there this winter.
Dr Perrin B Little longtime Boone county physician expired suddenly at his Whitestown home just before 1 pm while overheating after helping build his new house. He fell ill after noon, could not be aided by his wife and son Frank, Dr Milligan arrived soon after, and Dr Wendell Little was summoned from Indianapolis. A prior light stroke a year earlier is thought to have hastened his death.
Thieves entered Advance Hardware Durg store and Melson General Merchandise last night or early morning. About $100 in cash and clothing were taken. Burrin Drug store front door glass was broken and a small amount of change was missed from a unlocked safe. Melson store robbed like the drugstore. papers scattered. Hardware safe blown. about $70 and a Liberty Bond taken. Commercial Club offers a $100 reward for capture and conviction.
Mary J Booher died at the home of her granddaughter Mrs Claude Bishop near Advance this morning at 6 30 o clock at the age of 88 Funeral services will be at the Lutheran Church east of Darlington with burial in the cemetery there but no time has been set
Mrs Bernard L Hodson aged 38 of New Ross died Sunday at Williams hospital from uremic poisoning after a brief illness. Funeral Wednesday at 10 at the Christian church with Rev F E Graves officiating. Interment in I O O F cemetery south of New Ross. Born in Burlington Vermont July 5 1886 she was Miss Delima Mae Baker before marriage January 18 1902. Survived by husband six children Earl William Ernest Edward Clarence Keith Thomas Eugene Leona Mae Betty Louise and her mother who travels from Vermont to attend the funeral.
Mr and Mrs William Butler with daughter plan an extended trip to North Carolina visiting relatives and friends. En route they will call at Washington DC and other points of interest before returning after about three weeks.
Simon Hudson who spent the past year with relatives and friends here has returned to his home in Fredonia Kansas.
Mrs. Mary Serring writes to friends she is enjoying her auto trip to California very much and contemplates spending the rest of her life in the west.
Charles A Minnich died at his home four miles west of New Ross after a two month illness from heart trouble. Born June 26 1852 in New Castle Virginia he was the son of Andrew J Minnich and Adeline. He married Isabelle Downing January 8 1878. Survivors include his wife four sons and several children, a brother and sister and his Mace Methodist connections. He lived in the area since leaving P lodge earlier and was a member of the Mace K church.
Mr Herbert Sanders Wright of New Ross and Miss Mary Elizabeth Brown were united in marriage in a ceremony noted for its simplicity and familial blessing. The couple plans a modest celebration with relatives and close friends in the days ahead.
