Rural Church Open Air Service to Hear Lecture by Rev Oscar E Kelley

An open air union service is planned in the schoolyard next Sunday evening with Rev Oscar E Kelley delivering a lecture on keeping rural churches vigorous. If weather disrupts it, the event moves to the high school assembly hall. Attendance last Sunday was estimated up to 800. Music by B I Smiley and a male quartet led by Mark Wall with Mae Cornelius at the organ.

Teachers Institute Fifty-Fourth In Boone County At Lebanon

The fifty fourth annual Teachers Institute of Boone County will be held in Lebanon next week with Prof C L Reed of Louisville Mrs E E Olcott of Danville Miss Hannah Bell of Frankfort OF Hall of Advance County Agent R W Imel of Lebanon and Mr William Emmons of Lebanon listed as speakers. All county teachers are urged to attend and pay a $1 registration. Trustees Day is Thursday with daily sessions opening at 8 o clock.

Pastor Rev W P Kibbey Ends Five Year Church Service

Reverend W P Kibbey closed his pastorate of five years with a tearful farewell service. He earned wide respect for faithfulness zeal and courage and left a strong imprint on the church and community. Seventy six new members joined during his stay and he will remain in the area with his wife linked to the church.

The Boone County Fair closed after a week of high quality exhibits and varied entertainment. Races were close and exciting while attendance set records. receipts look strong with a likely comfortable surplus after premiums and claims are settled. Weather was favorable with rain limited to one late Thursday shower.

Free street entertainment in Advance by local volunteers

Mark Wall and Cris Ashwell will present a free Saturday evening show on the Advance streets. The program includes a short moving picture, special instrumental and vocal music, and perhaps one or two readings. They perform at their own expense to promote their businesses and seek local support.
