County Agent M. E. Cromer reports hogs on good pasture use 15 to 30 percent less grain for the same live weight gain. Across 15 pasture trials the average grain per pound of gain was 3.54 versus 5.11 in 5 dry lot tests, a 30.7 percent saving. Red clover or alfalfa provide season long forage. if unavailable, plant rape, rape and oats, or soybeans. Those using nutritious forage to maximize daily gains will see the greatest summer profits and a 20 to 30 percent pork-cost reduction with pasture.

All Day Church Meeting Welcomes New Minister Boyd
