Conductor Elmer D Scouten died early today at St Vincent's hospital after severe head injuries and multiple fractures. Brakemen Spriven and Luhr survived, with Spriven improving after head injuries and Luhr expected to be out in a few days. The wreck, caused by misread signals, damaged twelve cars as engines 333 and 323 failed to coordinate, halting traffic until the tracks could be cleared. A Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen funeral is planned.
