Lenawee Man Guilty of Draft Evasion Charges

Tex W. Meekman a 26 year old Toledo resident was found guilty in Detroit federal court of draft evasion. He had been registered with the Lenawee county board and lived in Adrian and Morenci. He shifted from 4-F to 1-A, failed to appear, and received a sentence up to five years. Judge Lederle condemned him as a fake, noting his claimed dependency of his mother, marriage and Jehovah's Witness membership to dodge obligations. Harry P. Cole testified as draft board clerk after a three hour hearing.

More arrests expected in bribe inquiry across Michigan

In Lansing on September 14, Attorney General Herbert J. Rushton said more arrests would follow in a grand jury probe into bribery influencing legislation. Warrants names Rep.
