New York, Sept 10. The first general strike in the German occupied Grand Duchy of Luxembourg was reported in force as workers protest incorporation into the Reich and execution threats for strikers. Luxembourg’s government in exile leader Joseph Dupong said occupation authorities declared a civil emergency in the 99 square mile territory with about 296,913 people in 1935.

Hudson September 10 The Hardie Manufacturing Company plant was closed today as about 75 to 80 CIO union workers did not report for duty. The stoppage described as a holiday by workers follows failed wage demand talks and dissatisfaction with the level of war work. Perrine Lautzenheiser, president and general manager, calls it an unauthorized strike driven by unreasonable wage demands.
