Fire devastates nearly all Los Gatos business district

Nearly the entire business portion of Los Gatos California was destroyed by fire yesterday with losses estimated around one quarter million dollars. Other items note Baltimore house fire losses of seventy dollars insured, Polish Alliance biennial delegates in Toledo, and various brief notices from public figures and incidents.

SCHOONER MONT BLANC SANK IN LAKE ERIE GALE NEAR BAR POINT

In a Saturday night gale on Lake Erie the coal laden schooner Mont Blanc sank two miles from Bar Point. The crew clung to rigging through the night and were rescued by the tug Cheboygan, taken to Amherstburg. Owner John Little of Port Huron, the Mont Blanc measured 137 by 26 feet with 174 net tons and carried about 500 tons of coal for J. W. Thompson. Other vessels in tow, Mineral State, John Kilderhouse, and Roberts, suffered damage but anchored off Bar Point. The captain's wife, Mrs Littletton, remained ill aboard the Cheboygan.

Michigan farmers swindled by Watson & Co impersonator

A man posing as a member of the Watson & Co commission firm defrauded Michigan farmers of thousands in fruit and produce. He used fraudulent checks bearing Geo J Watson Sr, shipped goods to Chicago, and vanished after selling the consignment. Michigan banks face liability for the bad checks.
